Protected Characteristics and Equality
Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion at Townfield Primary School
At Townfield Primary School, our core philosophy is built on belonging. We pride ourselves on cultivating an environment where every individual is visible, valued, and respected for exactly who they are. In our community, diversity is celebrated, equity is non-negotiable, and we firmly believe that there are No Outsiders!
We believe that preparing children for the modern world means teaching them to appreciate the rich tapestry of human life. We have a zero-tolerance approach to any form of discrimination. Our pupils are taught to champion fairness and show deep respect for everyone, particularly those protected under the law.
The Equality Act 2010 & Protected Characteristics
To ensure justice and equal treatment for all citizens across Britain, the Equality Act 2010 legally shields individuals from unfair treatment, harassment, and victimisation.
As a school, we explicitly teach and uphold protections for the nine protected characteristics defined by the Act:
-
Age
-
Disability
-
Gender reassignment
-
Marriage and civil partnership
-
Pregnancy and maternity
-
Race
-
Religion or belief
-
Sex
-
Sexual orientation

Admissions and daily attendance figures
-
Academic outcomes and progress tracking
-
Exclusion rates
-
Logged incidents of a sensitive nature (including racial, bullying, homophobic, or any other prejudice-related incidents)
At Townfield Primary School, we remain steadfastly dedicated to maintaining a safe, welcoming, and empowering space where everyone can thrive together.
