Child Protection  

Everyone at Townfield has the responsibility of ensuring all our children are safe and protected from anything that may cause them harm, hinder their development or limit their right to provision of safe and effective care.  #Eachandeverychild

Safeguarding 

Together with Rainbow Education Multi Academy Trust, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.  

Department for Education definition

  • Protecting - children and young poeple from maltreatment and harm
  • Preventing - impairment of children and young people's health or development
  • Ensuring that children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
  • Taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes 

 

 

Safeguarding Team 

We have a dedicated team of Designated Safeguard Leads who deal with all safeguarding concerns or issues.

Parents or Carers with Safeguarding Concerns about a a child

Everyone is responsibile for safeguarding children.  If you have any concerns please report these to our Designated Safeguarding Lead, Mrs Keenan or a member of our Safeguarding Team.   If this happens out of school hours please do not delay making a report.   Outside of school hours, you may contact the Intergrated Front Door on 606 2008.   Please don't feel put off by making a report.  If you have reason to be concerned, that is justification to make a report and school is always thankful for any safeguarding reports ensuring the safety and protection of our children and school.  This also includes parents/carers; anyone can make a safegaurding report.

Our Safeguarding Pledge

At Townfield we are comitted to safeguarding children and pledge to:-

  • ensure that children are visible, their voices are heard and their needs, views and wishes are addressed.  
  • recognise that some children may be more vulnerable to harm due to their age, specific needs or home circumstances 
  • always act in the best interests of children 
  • act without delay to protect children from harm and abuse
  • share information promptly to support a collective and holistic assessment of children's needs
  • meet all mandatory training requirements, regularly updated professional knowledge and applying any learning to our practice 

 

Safeguarding Awareness & Training 

All staff at Townfield Primary receive the safeguarding training. 

Statutory safeguarding refresher training covers the following:-

  • recognising the signs and symptoms of abuse
  • reporting procedures (including CPOMs)
  • Child Criminal Exploitation (including "County Lines")
  • Child Sexcual Exploitation
  • Female Genital Mutilation
  • Forced Marriage
  • Extremism & Radicalisation (including Prevent Duty / Online Prevent Duty training)
  • Levels of Need
  • Early Help

 

All staff and governors at Townfield Primary are also expected to read and understand the following documents relating to safeguarding:-

  • Keeping Children Safe in Education Part 1 (DfE 2021
  • Sexual Violence and Sexual Harrassment between Children in Schools & Colleges (DfE 2021)
  • Child Protection Policy (including flowchart of safeguarding procedures)
  • Code of Conduct (Staff & Governors)
