Our topic in computing this term is 'Computing Systems and Networks' and during this lesson we were learning about how information technology improves our world. The children were investigating IT that is used in supermarkets and specifically barcodes. The children learnt about barcodes and how they speed up shopping trips and how they send information to the till to tell you how much something costs. The children worked well with their partner to use an iPad to complete this activity. They have learnt how to log on and add text boxes and use the tools on the seesaw app. They really enjoy their computing lessons and developing their knowledge of controlling iPads.

Today we have been learning about food chains. We learnt about producers, consumers and predators in our lesson and how food chains are really important. We discovered if one part of the food chain is missing then this can affect the consumers and predators and that the habitat may become over crowded with a certain living thing.

We have been continuing to discuss what makes a good friend. Today we made our own class friendship web and discovered how we are all connected by friendship in our class. We discussed the character traits that make a good person and a good friend and how we choose our friends for the positive attributes they have and how they share those attributes in the friendship we have with them. We looked at both positive character traits and negative character traits and discussed what each term means.

We have been learning about the feeling 'lonely' and how this can make ourselves and other people feel. We designed posters and thought about how we can help to spot a person who may be feeling lonely and how we can make people feel better about their feelings. The children had some wonderful ideas and I am sure they will now know the ways they can help to support their friends and others confiendelty.

In Science this term we are learning about 'living things' and during this lesson the children were deciding whether objects were alive, no longer alive or if they had never been alive, The children were taught about the seven characteristics of living things and were then able to sort the pictures accordingly. Some objects really needed thinking about such as apples and logs. The children realised that these objects were once alive when they were growing on a living tree.
