The children in Nursery have been learning about Spring. We have looked at new life and how our environment changes during this time. The children have used different resources and tools to make and paint Daffodils. We are very proud of the fantastic pictures created.

Our children have been developing their fine motor skills by using tweezers to place pompoms on Easter chicks, using cotton buds to decorate an egg and then cutting it out with scissors. They have explored our sensory trays, using tweezers , looking at different eggs and leaves, finding numerals and matching numbered eggs to the correct number of dots. They have developed perseverance and team work by taking part in egg and spoon races in our outdoor area. We also made chocolate Easter nests, ensuring good hygiene before preparation. We have shared lots of stories relating to Easter and Spring and one of their favourites is 'We're Going On An Egg Hunt'.

We are delighted with how well the children have settled once again after being apart for so long. They are now self-registering by finding their name and then trying their best to write it by forming some recognisable letters.
The children have taken part in imaginary role-play in our Vets, taking turns and sharing fairly, making marks for appointments and using tools and equipment to treat their patients. They have enjoyed sharing photographs of their pets and talking about how they need to care for them.
They have looked closely at daffodils, counting the petals and using crayons and paints to draw them.
We have really enjoyed looking at baby photographs of our Nursery children and encouraging the children to talk about how they have grown, how they have changed and what they are able to achieve now.

We have been practising our balancing and ball control skills in PE. The children enjoy using different equipment and listen really well to instructions.

The children have loved getting to know their forest. They have learnt how to respect the animals and plants around them, use natural materials to build things and enjoyed experiencing different types of weather.

We have learnt about the different stages of the butterfly life cycle. We have really enjoyed watching our caterpillars grow and transform into chysallis. We can't wait until the butterflies emerge! We thought of names for our caterpillars. Everybody wrote their ideas - we stretched out the sounds in the words before we wrote them. We have drawn observational pictures of our caterpillars, paying close attention to detail. We have also written our own stories about minibeasts. We thought, said, wrote then checked our sentences.

Art: Dragon eye clay modelling

In our art lessons, we have been looking at sculpting and moulding clay to create dragon eyes for our Viking unit. We used our fingers and modelling tools to create effective designs that would capture the scales of a dragon.

4M have had the opportunity to play cricket with the help of a cricket coach. We have been focusing on our batting skills and fielding skills. We have thoroughly enjoyed playing on a Thursday afternoon.
Music: Using the glockenspiels to create the melody for 'Lean on me'

Cooper Receives An Award From Mrs. Loftus.
Cooper wanted to help the animals in his local park and collected 105 pieces of litter to dispose of correctly.
He received an award for being a fantastic, young Eco-Warrior and we are extremely proud of him.

PE
Here are some photographs of Eden completing the PE activities that we have uploaded. Eden looks like he is really enjoying the activities alongside his brother Zach and Fifi the dog! Well done to Eden. It is so important to continue to develop and ensure that you have enough physical exercise whether it is at home or outside.We will continue to add daily physical activities for you to complete!
English
Eden and Phoebe have also completed English writing work on 'Zog' by Julia Donaldson. Eden and Phoebe remembered to include capital letters and full stops in their work. Wlel done!
Science
Wow Phoebe looks like she has been working extremely hard to complete our Science (Seasons) work that has been planned. She has made her own Rain Gauge and her own 'Weather Vane'. I wonder how much rain you will collect over the next week?

PSHE
Eden thought about who he would like to keep in touch with whilst we are to remain at home. Eden is going to write letters to the people on his list. Well done Eden and I think that the letters will cheer people up! Who would you like to keep in touch with?.
Week 1 - 6th January 2021
It is so lovely to see some of the work that you are completing at home. It is a strange time but you are all doing so well. I will continue to celebrate your learning as it is fabulous.
Phoebe has been completing Phonics work and practising counting in 5s at home. Well done Phoebe!
Eden has been completing more work at home including a PE challenge, phonics work and learning his number bonds to 10. Well done to you Eden.
Rose and Lily have also been busy bees and working hard at home to complete a variety of work. They have completed Phonics, Maths and writing at home. Well done girls.
Week 1 - 7th January.
Well done to Belle and Phoebe for completing more home learning activities at home.
Phoebe has been remembering when to use capital letters.
Belle has been making her Rain Gauge and is now ready to see how much rainful she will collect. We do not normally want it to rain but we want it to now so that we can complete our investigation.
Belle decided to write a letter to her Auntie Terri as she lives in Wales. Belle also has been applying the 'ie' sound when writing sentences. She has also been completing some of the PE challenges that we have set.
Well done to all of you for completing home learning at this tricky time!

Hattie was our TT Rockstar champion this week! Well done Hattie.

Phiebe has completed lots of learning this week and today has been super busy!
Today Phoebe watched Chester Zoo live videos and wrote a sentence about each animal.
Pe - Socks in pots, we used number sentences to find the total score amd the socks were sometimes 1 point, 2 points and 10 points. She also started off doing some stretches before doing some hopping and jumping over the bars.
We found Reading Eggs really useful. Phoebe completed the test to see what level she was on and carried out a few activities on the app. Putting words correctly into a sentence. Practicing diagraphs.
She has also recorded 3cm of rainfall on her chart.
Eden has been completing his PE challenges. This looks like you had lots of fun Eden. Eden has also been applying his Phonics knowledge and writing sentences. Well done Eden, you remembered acapital letter to start your sentence and a full stop at the end of the sentence.

December 2020 - Levers, sliders and joins.
We have had a great time exploring some different mechanisms. We enjoyed exploring moving books, cards, scissors and clocks. We even made our own!!!! We used treasury tags and a hole punch to create joins in the form of personalised chains, split pins to create a moving pair of scissors and moving hands on our clocks. We then designed, produced and evaluated our moving (sliders) Christmas cards!
