Y4 DT - preparing ingredients

In this week's DT lesson, Y4 learnt how to use a range of techniques such as chopping (using claw & bridge grip), peeling, grating and spreading. 

Year 6 AI Live Lesson

Today we had a live lesson all about Gen AI. We learnt what it is, how to use it and how it is being used to help people. We also learnt all about technology jobs and how technology will change the future.

4D - DT

This half term, Year 4 are working towards building their skills and knowledge to design and make a healthy pitta pizza. As part of this, the children were learning how to peel, chop, slice, spread and grate foods during their DT lesson this week. We learnt different techniques such as the claw and the bridge grip.

2B - DT - Handling Food

4D - Maths (graphs)

This week in maths, we have been looking at reading data from tables and then creating our own bar graphs and line graphs. 

Y6 - Gears & Pulleys Junior Stem

Year 6 were lucky enough to be visited by Nick from Junior Stem on Thursday. They investigated gears and pulleys as part of their DT Topic. They used motors, controlled via iPads, to create their own mechanisms and note how the gears and pulleys were working.

2B- DT Evaluating Vegetables

In Year 2, their DT topic is 'Healthy Kebabs'. For their fist lesson, they got to evaluate a range of vegetables such as, peppers, olives, carrots, cucumber, tomatoes and mushrooms. They had to think about the name of the vegetables, where it is grown and use adjectives to describe what it looked and felt like. The children then got to smell and taste the vegetables! They then had to think about which vegetable they preferred and which one they would include in their final product, which is a healthy kebab. Year 2 really enjoyed this lesson and tasting vegetables they have never tried before!

 

 

DT Making Bread

Year 6 Paul Lavelle Foundation Visit

Year 6 had a class visit from The Paul Lavelle Foundation. The children learned about how the charity came to be & discussed a range of issues and dilemmas to keep them safe and in balanced relationships.

6P National Archives

To launch our new History topic all about Black Civil Rights, today we had a session with the National Archives all about Black Victorians, we used Census information to find out lots about historic people. 

Y4 Geography fieldtrip

Year 4 went on a field trip to Leasowe Lighthouse and New Brighton. The children worked hard to observe the impact of pollution at these two locations by the river. The children designed a tally chart with different items to look for and then recorded their results. When comparing their results, Year 4 found that Leasowe Lighthouse, an area by the river that has more green space, was less impacted by pollution whereas New Brighton, an area by the river that is more urbanised, was impacted more by pollution but was still a very clean place to visit.

Rock Steady Assembly

We had a fantastic assembly from 'Rock Steady' today. The children and the teachers had a fantasic time joining in with the music and some lucky children were able to star in their own rock band. Art workshop

On Wednesday, we were fortunate to have an illustrator come in to show us how to draw faces and figures. We applied these skills and started to draw Roman soldiers. This was a fantastic opportunity to enrich their art knowledge and skills. The children thoroughly enjoyed it and are going to put what they learnt into practice in their next art lesson.

Y4 No Outsiders Assembly

Shell structures (DT)

During this terms DT unit, Y4 have been learning about shell structures and have made their own using a net then using different techniques to strengthen their structure making it more durable.

Y4 Roman trip

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Chester Grosvenor Museum for the day to enrich our learning of Roman Britain this half term. We had the fantastic opportunity to do a Roman soldier tour to the amphitheatre learning Roman battle techniques. We were also lucky enough to explore at real Roman artefacts in a workshop as well as having a guided tour around the museum.
