Nursery: Watch Me Grow (UTW/Science)

As part of our topic 'Watch Me Grow' we have been learning the parts of a plant as well as its life cycle. The children have been great at making and drawing observations as well as designing their own plants.
Nursery - Exploring Flowers and Planting (UTW/Science)

This children have enjoyed exploring the plants and flowers growing in our school. They were great at spotting their different shapes, colours and size.
The highlight of thr week was the children planting their own beanstalks inspired by our book of the week. They have shown their pots lots of love and care, checking on their growth multiple times a day.

Nursery have been making Easter Crispy Cakes with Mrs Hancox and Miss Walker. They were very excited to get stuck in and get tasting!

The children have been using their ICT skills to draw their favourite farm animals using a simple app. We love the creativity!
Nursery: Butterfly life cycles (UTW/Science)

The children in Nursery have been learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. They are able to recognise the different stages and name them. They have used the vocabulary; egg, caterpillar, pupa and butterfly.

Today our Nursery children enjoyed a trip to Tam O'shanter Farm as part of our 'Down on the Farm' topic. They had so much fun exploring the farm and experiencing all the sights and smells that go along with it. The trip to the farm has helped the children with their knowledge of farm animals, developed their understanding of how to look after animals and learn what happens on a farm.
Nursery: Chinese New Year (UTW)

As part of our ' People who help us' topic we have discussed who looks after our health. We have learnt about the role of a Dentist and what they do to keep our teeth and gums happy. We have brushed our teeth everyday and learnt that two minutes is all it takes!
Nursery: Fire Service Visit - UTW Geography

As part of our 'People who help us' topic we have been learning about who helps us in an emergency. We were very lucky to have a visit from Birkenhead Fire Station who brought their Fire Engine and showed us lots of the life saving tools which help them look after us.

As part of our 'People Who Help Us' topic we went on a local area walk to Townfield shops. We spotted the supermarket, cafe, hairdressers and Doctors.
We also used our walk to revisit our knowledge on road safety. The children were amazing at spotting traffic lights, identifying the colours of the lights and explaining what each one means.
Nursery - Police visit (UTW - Geography)

Today we had Police officers come to visit us at Nursery. We learnt about the three main things they do in an emergency to keep us safe and help us. We have learnt the Police help people when they are lost, help us on the road and stop people from doing bad things.
We had a great fun exploring the car and van. Thank you Police Officer Luke and Police Officer Cal.
Nursery - Exploring changes in state (UTW- Science)

This week the children have been making observations about what happens when we heat up things. We noticed the ice and snow melts into water, our bread becomes crispy and hot when we put it in the toaster and our marshmallows at Forest school also melt and become sticky.

This term we have been looking at 'the dark'. We spent two weeks exploring the topic of Space and the children have been really interested in learning about the solar system. We read the story 'Whatever Next' and we role played being astronauts and travelling in a rocket to the different planets. The children have remembered lots of different facts about each planet and they have learnt that we live on the planet called Earth.

Nursery celebrated World Nursery Rhyme Week!
The nursery rhymes this year were Head, shoulders, knees and toes, Jack and Jill, Row row row your boat, Wheels on the the bus and Hickory dickory dock.
The children took part in various activities linked to all the Nursery rhymes and we had a really fun week.
Nursery - planting bulbs in Forest School

Our Artist focus in the Autumn term is Jackson Pollock. The children have really enjoyed exploring his painting techniques. They created their own paintings in the style of Jackson Pollock.
Nursery - Celebrations in the sky & Diwali

Nursery have been so excited about bonfire night! They made their own sparklers using ribbons and lollipop sticks.
We also learnt about the celebration of Diwali and the children explored mendhi patterns.

Nursery have really enjoyed exploring Autumn! We have been looking at how the trees and leaves are changing colours and the children have been on Autumn walks to collect leaves, conkers, acorns and pine cones. We have also been reading 'Owl Babies' and learning about nocturnal animals. The children have enjoyed painting their own owls and making owls in the playdough area.
